Swirling everywhere

A while back we were approached from a fellow tweeter from twitter who has an online shop called My Shopping Connection, which is an online Galleria filled with unique and interesting product finds. They locate small businesses offering quality merchandise and showcase a few of their finest offerings in a "Our Finds."
So we were thrilled to find out that our Happy Halloween Bat is featured in their 2009 Halloween decor collection. Here is a snippet of what they have to say: This adorable handmade polymer clay Halloween ornament is a great choice for ornament collectors. The main part of the ornament features a cute striped pumpkin, glittery flying bats and the message "Happy Halloween." Dangling beneath the ornament is another little bat.

So if you are looking to do some Halloween shopping click on over and take a peak.

A Hauntingly Fun Halloween BLOG Party!

Coming this month on Saturday, Oct 17th Swirly Designs is taking part again in another Hauntingly Magical Halloween Blog Party Event.

We participated last year and we had a blast. The event is hosted by a wonderful blog Fanciful Twist. The scoop is on the October 17th a bunch of bloggers will share everything and anything about All Hallows Eve. By sharing great ideas and crafts we help celebrate the second most popular holiday of the year...Halloween.

Last years blog event we posted some of our Halloween collectibles, and a how-to project. It was a spooktacular time. We had a blast and got some great inspiration by visiting all the other blogs that were participating also. So tell your friends and stop on by Saturday Oct 17th for another fanciful and swirly good time.

Moving Out

It's finally here....moving day! This weekend is the big move!
We're excited here at Swirly Designs to be packing up and moving out. It's been a whirlwind of a week - trying to pack up a studio and a condo all while a 4 year old is running a muck and 5 month old is cranky. Call us crazy for sure. But we know the move is a good thing and once we settle in we'll laugh about these days, for sure.

While we may be busy for the next few days we also wanted you all to be aware that our Halloween ornaments are still available. We will have limited access to email through next Wednesday but if you place an order, be rest assured we will respond as soon as possible.

So, wish us luck and we'll tell you all about once we settle in.

Have a great weekend!

Thanks for the shout out...

Over the weekend we got a nice shout out from one of our favorite sites that we visit called Everyday House Blend. It's a site dedicated for everything you ever wanted to know about Martha Stewart Omnimedia (we don't know if it has any official connection with the company but if you want to know about special MSO products hitting the market, events, or just to view the new magazine covers before they hit the newsstands... they have it first). An off shoot of that site is the Friends of Martha Blog Network. A place where you can network with other creative bloggers. We are this month's spotlight, with a cute little write up. Check it out here or click the image to read.
BTW don't forget to watch the Martha Stewart Season 5 this Monday :)

Halloween ornament photoshoot

For this post we thought we’d share some of our “outtakes” from our photoshoot last weekend.
Before the launch of an ornament collection, we like to take photos of the ornaments – A LOT of photos. We spent the whole day shooting and took over 450 photos! Yes you read that right - 450 shots. What in the world did we do before digital? Of course not all of them are winners but some of them are cool so we thought we'd share a few. Some of the nice close up shots can give a better idea of the detail in the ornaments that we can't always show on the website.

Enjoy! And have a great weekend everyone!

Our New Ads for the Holidays

Here are two of our latest ad designs that will be hitting the newsstands in your favorite magazines this Holiday season. The Somerset Holiday & Celebrations volume 3 (bottom ad) and the winter issue of Where Woman Create (on the right).

These are both new magazines for us to advertise in and hopefully they will be as successful as our previous ads in the now defunct Mary Engelbreit Home Companion magazine. For all of you who miss MEHC magazine as much as we do we have good news! Mary Engelbreit has just relaunched her website/blog and is promoting a new wonderful Home Companion workshop, filled with your favorite artisans from her magazines. Be sure to stop by her blog and tell her that Swirly Designs sent you. :)
